Product Review: Redken Smooth Lock

Redken Smooth Lock Stay Sleek leave-in cream for dry and unruly hair seals in smoothness for up to three shampoos. Say goodbye to frizz and hello to smooth, sleek hair!

The heat-activated formula in Redken Smooth Lock Stay Sleek tames, nourishes and controls hair for weightless frizz control and intensive surface smoothing. The Thermo Active Polymer works to retain internal moisture and strengthen hair, whilst fragrant almond oil conditions and coats the hairs surface to leave you with a silky finish and added shine.

Directions of use: Apply on towel-dried hair, do not rinse.

This product works wonders, especially with blow-drying and flat-ironing; however, it also works wonders with natural air-drying of the hair, especially curly hair with some frizz. Applied to hair after towel-drying, then allowing hair to dry naturally without brushing out any curls, Redken Smooth Lock took away any frizz or flyaway and kept the curls exactly intact. Where previously attempts have been made to achieve this effect with the use of mousse, Redken Smooth Lock is the key. Mousse will leave a heavy, hard feel and unnatural look after drying in the hair but Smooth Lock dries beautifully and naturally for a clean, sleek style without any effort or fuss.

This product may just become your new best friend.

Beauty Q&A: Nails

Beauty Q&A:

Is it ever OK to wear one color of polish on fingernails and another color on toenails?

NO. Never. Not unless you want to look thirteen.

Aside from the lack of class and a polished, finished, complete look, the biggest factor here is the choppiness this creates breaks the flow of your look and no matter what your style is, the goal is to flow from top to bottom.

Spirited Summer Pieces from Givenchy

If you can get beyond the haunting, minimalistic faces of this entire show while ignoring the shoes as well, the pieces themselves are exquisitely spirited. A select few even had an Atlantis or Utopian feel to them.

The light, lacy, slinky lingerie look predominating the line shows a freshly feminine perspective that would flatter most any woman and has been missing for some time in today's fashions. We loved this line. We also did very much enjoy and appreciate the cultural diversity among the models.

It’s worth a watch to take some new summer tips to spice up, lighten up and add a feminine touch to your summer wardrobe or be inspired to shop Givenchy.

Luxury tents

“The biggest trend we’re seeing for 2016 is that our clients are very specifically asking us to plan and book experiences, no longer simply asking for hotels by name or generic destinations,” says Leora Rothschild, founder and President of Rothschild Safaris. “This is dramatically different when compared to years past. Our expert travel designers are building itineraries around highly customized experiences, things like walking safaris in Africa, guided fly-fishing in India and behind-the-scenes tours of exotic architecture and festivals in Asia.”

“Even in emerging destinations like Ethiopia and Myanmar, we’re able to customize individual experiences spanning culture, culinary, history, and wildlife allowing for a more rewarding travel experience,” continued Rothschild. “This is the true luxury in travel that our discerning clients are booking in 2016.”

While Rothschild Safaris operates in over 28 countries, here are 7 destinations that top the list of Hottest Trips:

Kenya: Kenya is well known as home to the quintessential safari experience. In 2016, travelers eager to interact with local culture and support their overall health and wellness are increasingly spending more time outside of the safari vehicle than inside while exploring Kenya.

Tanda Tula Safari Lodge South Africa
South Africa Ultimate Family Safari: A destination popular with family and multi-generational group travelers, in 2016. Families traveling in South Africa can enjoy family friendly world-class dining, an innovative foodie culture and a unique wine and country experience between Cape Town and Franschhoek before setting off for a magical wildlife safari experience.

Myanmar: Myanmar (formerly Burma) has just emerged from over 50 years of isolation from the Western world. Called "The Golden Land" thanks to the thousands of gilded pagodas scattered around the country, Myanmar today is often compared to what Thailand was decades ago. But things are changing rapidly, and thoughtful travelers who understand their impact on the country and its people are eagerly exploring this magical destination in 2016.

Ethiopia: In 2016, travelers eager to learn something while traveling are increasingly choosing to go to Ethiopia. With its own religion and some of the world’s most well preserved ancient artifacts easily accessible to travelers, Ethiopia offers a hands-on cultural experience for history buffs.

Ecuador and the Galapagos: Moving beyond the traditional Galapagos cruise, in 2016 active travelers are exploring the Galapagos Islands by mountain bike and kayak followed by historic and cultural experiences on Ecuador’s mainland.

India: While India’s wildlife, including tigers, remains a key draw for nature-loving travelers; in 2016 exploring local cultural festivals alongside India’s best local guides is also an in-demand experience.

Chile: Home to the driest desert on earth, a lush and mountainous Lake District, and Antarctic ice fjords, Chile’s diverse landscapes are all within the borders of one very skinny country, stretching over 2,500 miles along the west coast of South America. In 2016, active travelers are getting off the beaten path and exploring Chile on horseback, on foot and by bike.

Product Review - Biogenol Ultra Deep Masque/Deep Conditioner 4 oz.

Biogenol Ultra Deep Masque/Deep Conditioner 4 oz.

Salon recommended, Biogenol Ultra Deep Masque/Deep Conditioner, helps to repair damaged hair to leave it full, silky and manageable. It is for all hair types and contains a natural anti-oxidant to prevent fading (for color). It is also glycerin-free.

For a deep conditioning treatment, apply the Ultra Deep Masque to wet hair. The company advises a heat cap or getting under a dryer. For our purposes, we applied in a hot shower for the duration of the shower. The results were excellent with softness in the hair not previously there. It is especially good for unruly hair and will add a new element of control.

It is pricey, but a little goes a long way and if you have problem hair, it may be worth the investment. Would we use it again? Absolutely, our staff loved it.
